Which "Been Together" app do you have?
This page compares LoveKeeper with the original Been Together by Been Together Inc., listed as "Been Together (Ad)" with the subtitle "Couple D-day". It is App Store id 539392422 and net.milkdrops.beentogether on Google Play.
Newer apps use the same name, such as "Been Together - Love Counter" on the App Store and a small "Been Together" day counter on Google Play from a different developer. Check the developer name in your store before you compare features.
What Been Together is in 2026
Been Together started in 2012 as a simple counter of how many days you have been together. Its developer, Been Together Inc. from South Korea, says it has been downloaded more than 36 million times. Google Play shows more than 10 million downloads there.
In 2025 and 2026 the app grew well beyond a counter. The update notes add a Lounge per anniversary with chat, stories, voice messages and stickers, 2gram short videos, a shared video diary called Our 2 Seconds, celebration cards you can send to couples worldwide, and fortune images. The Android version also offers AI avatars made from your photos.
That is useful if you want a social app around your relationship. If you came for a quiet day counter, it is a lot of app: about 176 MB on iPhone, with ads in between.
What Been Together does well
- Widgets. You can see your day count on the home screen, and on Android also on the lock screen and in the notification area. Many long-time users mainly use the widget and rarely open the app.
- Personal look. Two photos, your names and many backgrounds and paid themes make the main screen your own.
- More than one date. You can add other anniversaries, birthdays of friends and family, or an exam countdown, and switch between them.
- Active development. The app gets updates almost every few weeks; the latest came in October 2026.
- Many languages. The App Store lists 14, including English, Spanish, Korean and Japanese.
Where Been Together falls short
- Ads and ad tracking. Both store listings carry "(Ad)" in the name. On the App Store, its privacy label says identifiers and usage data may be used to track you across other companies' apps and websites. On Android, the description says location data is used for ad services.
- Paid extras. Premium and most themes cost $1.99 each in the US App Store, with a theme pack at $3.99.
- Milestones, not planning time. The listings describe automatic notifications for milestones such as every 100 days or the first anniversary. They do not describe choosing a reminder a week or a month before a date, which is what you need to plan a gift or book a table.
- Counting questions. Some users report the count looks one day off. Usually the app counts the first day as day 1. The relationship counter guide explains day 0 versus day 1.
- Widget changes. Users who rely on the widget complain when an update changes its size or layout.
- Social features you may not want. Lounges, public video posts and cards to strangers do not suit everyone who only wants to remember dates.
What LoveKeeper does differently
LoveKeeper is an anniversary tracker app that stays quiet: no ads, no in-app purchases, no feed. You add your anniversary, first date, wedding day, birthdays or a trip you are looking forward to. Each date shows the days since or the days left.
The main difference is reminders. For each date you choose as many reminders as you like, on the day or 1, 2, 3, 7, 10, 14 or 30 days before. Reminders for love dates and birthdays can include gift ideas for the occasion.
You can also keep photo memories and a bucket list of things you want to do together. Events, memories and photos stay on your phone, the app works offline, and you can save everything as a backup file. No account is needed, and only one of you needs the app, so surprises stay secret.
What LoveKeeper does not have yet: a home screen widget (it is the next feature), sync between two phones, and chat. It is in English only.
Which one fits you?
- Choose LoveKeeper if you want no ads, reminders days before your anniversary and other dates, or memories and a bucket list in one free app.
- Stay with Been Together if the home screen widget is what you use most, or you enjoy the Lounge, chat and video features with your partner.
- Use a web counter if you only want the number once: the relationship counter shows your days, months and years together without installing anything.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Been Together app have ads?
Yes. Both store listings are named "Been Together (Ad)", Google Play says it contains ads, and the developer describes it as ad-supported.
Is there an ad-free alternative to Been Together?
Yes. LoveKeeper is free with no ads and no in-app purchases. It tracks as many dates as you like, reminds you up to 30 days before each one and keeps photo memories and a bucket list. It has no widget yet.
Is Been Together free?
It is free to download with in-app purchases. In the US App Store, Premium and most themes cost $1.99 each.
Does Been Together have a widget?
Yes. It shows your day count on the home screen, and on Android also on the lock screen and in the notification area. LoveKeeper does not have a widget yet.
Why is Been Together one day off?
Most counters, including Been Together, count the first day as day 1, so the number is one higher than the days that have passed. Neither number is wrong; they start counting differently.
Does my partner need the app too?
Not for counting. In Been Together your partner joins only if you invite them to a Lounge. In LoveKeeper only one person needs the app, and there is no sync between two phones.
