LoveKeeper vs Between: a Between app alternative for one phone
LoveKeeper is a free Between alternative if what you want is to never miss an anniversary. It reminds you before every date, counts the days and keeps photo memories, and only one of you needs it. Between stays the better pick if you want a private chat, a shared calendar and a photo album that you both use.

What is the Between app?
Between is a private messenger for couples by DLT Partners, on the App Store since 2011. You and your partner connect your accounts, then chat, call, share photos and videos, and plan in a shared calendar. The calendar counts down to your special days, and the app shows how long you have been together.
The app is free with ads. Between Plus removes the ads and adds themes, love letters and longer video and voice messages, for both of you. In the US App Store it costs $2.99 a month or $26.99 once; the yearly price shows as $13.99 in the description and $24.99 in the purchase list. Stickers are bought separately with in-app "Hearts".
What Between does well
Between gives a couple one place that belongs only to them. Chats with your partner do not get lost between group chats and work messages, and photos stay in one album even when you change phones. Long-distance couples get free calls and a calendar where each of you sees the other's plans.
It is a mature app: more than 10 million downloads on Google Play and regular updates in 2026. Couples who have used it for years often say they would gladly pay to keep it.
Where Between falls short as an anniversary tracker
- Both of you have to join. Between only works once your partner installs it and moves your conversations there. If your partner is happy with the chat app you already use, that is a hard sell.
- Ads unless you pay. The free version shows ads. Removing them takes a subscription or the $26.99 lifetime purchase.
- Reminders are not the focus. Special days sit in a shared calendar. There is no list of dates with several reminders, say a week and a day before, so you have time to plan a gift or book a table.
- No surprises. Everything in the shared space is visible to your partner, which makes it hard to plan something secret.
- Your data lives in the service. Between's App Store privacy label lists data used to track you and data linked to you for third-party advertising. Its listings say your data is encrypted.
- Extras cost extra. Some users dislike that stickers come from a paid "Hearts" store.
What LoveKeeper does differently
LoveKeeper is an anniversary tracker app that one person uses alone. You add your anniversary, first date, wedding day, birthdays or a trip you are looking forward to. Each date shows the days since or the days left.
For each date you choose as many reminders as you like, on the day or 1, 2, 3, 7, 10, 14 or 30 days before. Reminders for love dates and birthdays can include gift ideas for the occasion. Because your partner does not see the app, a surprise stays a surprise.
You can also keep photo memories and a bucket list. LoveKeeper is free with no ads, no subscription and no account. Events, memories and photos stay on your phone, it works offline, and you can save a backup file.
What LoveKeeper does not have: chat, calls, a shared calendar, sync between two phones and a home screen widget. It is in English only.
Which one fits you?
- Choose LoveKeeper if you want to be reminded before your anniversary and other dates, your partner would rather not install another app, or you want to plan surprises.
- Choose Between if you both want a private chat, a shared album and a calendar where you see each other's plans.
- Use both if you already chat in Between. LoveKeeper does not replace your chat; it adds the reminders on your own phone.
- Skip the app if you only want the number once: the relationship counter shows your days together without installing anything.

How to move your dates from Between to LoveKeeper
- Open the special days in Between's calendar and note the dates you care about, starting with the day you got together.
- Install LoveKeeper and add that day as your anniversary. The days-since count appears right away.
- Add birthdays, your wedding day and other dates, and choose reminders for each.
- Keep Between for chatting if you like it. If you leave it, save the photos you want to keep first, because LoveKeeper cannot import them.
If the two apps show a count one day apart, they start counting differently. The anniversary calculator shows the exact dates for 100 days, 1,000 days and every year.
Other Between alternatives
If you want another app you both use, couple apps such as Paired focus on daily questions instead of chat. If you only want a counter on an iPhone, My Love is a simple option; see LoveKeeper vs My Love. The best anniversary apps list compares these with prices, platforms and whether your partner needs to join.
